Annisquam Village Church
Christian Education provides our children with the support they need to build and nourish a strong, inquisitive faith foundation.
Rev. Sarah Clark directs our Children’s Ministry and teaches our K-5 class. In her own words, “I have been attending AVC for a year and find it a spiritually alive congregation. I enjoy teaching Sunday School and hope I can contribute to the life of the church be doing so.”
Rev. Sarah is Rockport native and a Unitarian Universalist Christian. She graduated from Episcopal Divinity School and served several churches and denominations as both Minister and Religious Education teacher. She has degrees from Mt. Holyoke College (English Drama) and Yale Drama School (Playwriting and Dramatic Literature).
All 6th graders and up are encouraged to join the group. The plan is to get together once a month, generally on Friday evenings from 6-8 pm for pizza and fun, and to participate in the outreach of the church. Bring a friend! Ideas welcome! Parent volunteers needed!
All the children and youth of the church serve at our meal commitments
at The Open Door.
“One generation shall praise your works to another” Psalm 145: 4
There is nursery care for our youngest children on Sundays from 9:45-11:15 a.m. with our Nursery Care/Preschool teacher, Kierstin Hazzard. Kierstin brings much training and experience to her role as Nursery and Pre-School Teacher. A graduate of Lesley University, she taught at Gloucester's Pathways for Children and, with the rest of her family, has been deeply involved in the theater arts.
In addition to the nursery, we have one class which meets after the Children’s Message, so the children can begin worship with their parents and friends. The class is for grades K-5 with Rev. Sarah and is assisted by volunteer teachers from the congregation that help lead this class using curriculum from the Whole People of God as well as supplemental materials.
